Quarry
Quarry
In 1952, Cleto Toscano, a civil engineer from Misox an area of Graubünden bordering the Canton Ticino, founded Toscano AG. Initially engaged in road, bridge, and river construction, the company opened a quarry at the San Bernardino Pass in 1953 to extract stones for road construction. To meet the increasing demand for all types of stones, another quarry was opened in Andeer in 1958, which was complemented with its own natural stone processing plant in 1961. In the late 1970s, Titus Toscano took over the company and gradually developed it into a modern natural stone company. Today, Toscano AG continues its legacy of family ownership and is led by Claudio Toscano. For over 70 years Toscano AG has employed people in its neighboring villages and towns, and currently has over 20 tenured employees involved in quarrying, production, sales, and administration.
